Pirate Kingdoms

Pirate Kingdoms is a multiplayer survival game with light city-building options. In Pirate Kingdoms, you play as an outcast pirate who has been abandoned on a deserted island far from civilization. You must survive by battling wild animals and otherworldly creatures, hunting for food, finding water, maintaining your sanity, and ultimately escaping the island. You’ll need to build a ship to return to your piracy and seek revenge on the colonial nation that left you stranded.

The game features a massive map filled with diverse islands, each with unique cultures and environments. These islands are inhabited by indigenous people, colonists, rival pirates, and colonial soldiers, who you must avoid if you want to survive. As you explore these islands, your survival journey continues—you'll recruit other pirates to join your raids and attacks against the colonial nation. Later in the game, you can settle down and build a pirate safe haven: a thriving town of pirates that introduces the city-building aspect of the game. You’ll construct houses, defensive towers, and fortifications, all while defending against raids from the colonial forces and building an army capable of standing against your enemies.

As you progress, you'll craft and build massive ships, including caravels, sloops, frigates, and ships of the line. You’ll also be able to create weapons such as blunderbusses, muskets, double-barrel rifles, pistols, swords, and more. Combat will include battles against skeletons, zombies, wild animals like bears and wolves, and up to 25 other animal types.

The game also includes farming mechanics: you can collect plants, buy seeds, till the ground near your town or safe haven, and cultivate crops to feed yourself and your people. All of this can be done cooperatively with a friend as you explore the vast map together. There are over 30 islands in the game—some are massive, taking in-game days to traverse, while others are small and filled with hidden secrets. You’ll discover caves and dungeons where you can dive for loot and treasure that can’t be found elsewhere.

The ultimate objective is to survive, defeat the government forces, seek revenge, and build your pirate kingdom. You can recruit soldiers, pirates, and pets like dogs, monkeys, and horses to aid you. Construct farmland to raise cows, pigs, and sheep. Assemble a crew for your ships to battle the government’s navy, conquer rival pirate ships, and seize islands and cities. Captured territories can generate taxes and revenue that can be invested in farming, military operations, and other ventures.

Pirate Kingdoms launches on Steam in January 2024 in Early Access. Purchasing the game on Itch.io guarantees you a Steam key.
